Avel Attending Wedding During Shloshim
Question:
What is the proper practice in going to the wedding of close family ( niece-kallah is 27, had a broken engagement 5 years ago) during shloshim for a parent.
Answer:
A close family member whose absence will pain the Chosson or Kallah and diminish their Simcha, may attend in a limited fashion even during Shloshim. They may be at the chuppah, and at the meal when people are sitting and eating. They should help serve in some fashion, and preferably sit separately. They may not participate in any dancing and should not be present for the dancing and other customary Simchas Choson Vkallah.
